My Approach
How I work
I aim to leverage the strengths of short-term solution and skills-based approaches while acknowledging the unconscious aspects of repeating patterns. My work is individualised to you and your concerns.
A Humanistic Foundation
I take a humanistic approach in my work, respecting each individual's dignity, agency, and experiences. I aim to foster a safe and productive therapeutic relationship where your concerns can be heard, understood, and addressed. My focus is on treating you as a person — recognising your unique experiences and individuality — rather than a set of symptoms or a diagnosis.
Psychological & Psychoanalytic Perspectives
I draw on both psychological and psychoanalytic perspectives. I combine evidence-based approaches, like CBT and Motivational Interviewing, with the concepts of psychoanalysis, particularly informed by Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan.
This dual lens allows me to help you address practical, day-to-day challenges while also illuminating the often unconscious patterns that shape your life, choices, and relationships — the things that seem to recur despite your efforts to change.
What to Expect in the First Session
In the initial session, I aim to gain a grasp on what troubles you and what you may be seeking. From there, we can develop a collaborative treatment plan to address your concerns and move beyond your distress toward pursuing what is important to you. Sessions are available both in-person (Fitzroy North and Coburg) and online.
